Michael Tobey
Michael Tobey is the founder and managing principal of Springline, where he leads the identification, acquisition, and operation of portfolio companies. He brings more than a decade of professional experience across investment banking, asset management, and entrepreneurship.
Tobey began his career as a portfolio manager at Northern Trust, overseeing investment portfolios for family trusts, pensions, endowments, and foundations. He later worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs in New York and RBC Capital Markets in Denver, advising executive teams on mergers and acquisitions, capital structure, investment decisions, reorganizations, and lender negotiations.
Tobey earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with concentrations in entrepreneurship, economics, and accounting; a BS in finance from Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business; and is a CFA charterholder. Before his business career, he served as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he received multiple commendations and the Purple Heart.
